Abstract

Cultural and educational relations between Egypt and Nigeria play a vital role in promoting the Arabic language and culture across the African continent. Egyptian universities, particularly Al-Azhar, have significantly contributed to the education and training of Nigerian students, especially in Kaduna State, thereby strengthening cultural and religious ties between the two countries. This study aims to explore Egypt’s contributions to the spread of Arabic culture in Nigeria, focusing on graduates of Egyptian universities from Kaduna State as a case study. It also examines the impact of these contributions on Nigeria’s educational, social, and political landscape. The study employs a historical and analytical approach, reviewing the history of Nigerian educational missions to Egypt and analyzing statistical data on graduates and their various roles in Nigerian society. It also draws on documentary sources and interviews with graduates and key decision-makers in the educational and cultural sectors. The findings indicate that Egyptian universities, particularly Al-Azhar, have played a crucial role in educating and training a large number of Nigerian students, thereby fostering the spread of Arabic culture in Nigeria. Graduates have made significant contributions in various fields, including education, media, Islamic scholarship, and government administration.
